Summer Homesteading Workshop series at Gecko Hardware
May 17 – The Jam Jam Gecko Hardware 3pm – 5pm…. $30
Make batches of jam and preserves from start to finish using seasonal fruit with favorite WRLM vendor Kathy Neumuller from JJ&B Jellies, Jams and Butters… We’ll make two kinds of preserves – and you take home a jar of each.
June 7 – Soda and Sauerkraut Gecko Hardware 10am – 12pm… $30
Try your hand making your own ginger-ale and natural sauerkraut with Lisa Staffelbach from 24 Carrot Health. Everyone goes home with samples of what was made in class.
June 8 – Hugelkultur Horticulture at White Rock Local Garden 9:00 – 12pm…$30
Heather Rinaldi from Texas Worm Ranch teaches how to use twigs, branches, logs and leaves and make a hugelkultur bed. Students will build a “carbon sink” garden – a method that will grow into a fertile and water – efficient bed within a couple of seasons, allowing you to grow fruit, herbs, flowers and vegetables…. June 14 – Salsa Soiree Gecko Hardware 10am – 12pm…$30
Make batches of salsa with us as Carol Castillo from Cita’s Salsa guides us through some new and unique recipes. We’ll make two kinds of salsa, and everyone takes home a jar of each.
June 21 – Pickling Party Gecko Hardware 10am – 12pm…$30
Pickle straight from the garden with us, as we make two kinds of pickles withexpert pickler James Felps from In A Pickle Foods. Everyone goes home with jars of 2 kinds of pickles we make in class.
